Welcome!

Welcome to Dead Winter's Night, Emimar's site collective. Here you can find information about my interests and sites.

About the Name:

Dead winter's night is a line from Broken, a song by Finnish metal band, Sonata Arctica. I came across them in 2006 and they are the most amazing band I've ever heard, both with their music and lyrics. In April 2008, I had the oppertunity to see them live at the Corporation in Sheffield. Anyone who's been to the Corporation will know that it's not very big, but the the band put as much effort into the concert as they would have done at a big venue. I look forward to see them again.

Updates:

September 2008: UNI MONTH! :) I'll be starting the Zoology HND later on this month. It seems like frigging ages since I applied last October. The problem is, it just can't come soon enough. There's only a couple of things I need to do now and then everything's sorted (at least, until the chaos of starting the course is here.) I got the Fresher's Week events book last weekend and there's a lot of good stuff in there to look forward to. Ugh, getting accepted on the course was the easy part (quite ironic when you consider the number of stupid calculations I got wrong for the chemistry section of the OU course...), the paperwork for financial support and organising accomodation was the tricky part...Any how, because I'm going to have to move, it means I'll be missing a computer for a while, which sadly, means no updates for my sites for a while. (Not that I'd have time to mess around with them, but at least by putting a note here you'll all know I've not abandoned the sites, or fallen off the face of the Earth.) So, goodbye 'til Yule, I expect. :(

Oh, I almost forgot. I've started an icon journal on LJ called Howling Icons.

August 2008: Another early update, I know. I've added the How to maintain privacy and prevention of your personal details being stolen online page.

July 2008: Ok, a little early, but I decided to do this now because I have the new layout sorted and ready to upload sooner than I thought. Shortly after the last update, I found a site like Library Thing that allows you to catalogue your DVDs called DVDspot. I've made the paganism pages tighter and I've added new stuff and taken away things which aren't needed anymore because there's an easier alternative. I loved the colours and layout of the last version, so I've kept some elements to it, but the purple was getting a little old and I felt I needed a change.

June 2008: I've recently discovered Shelfari - a site similar to Library Thing where I can display books I own, and what's on my wishlist. Best of all, I don't have to pay to add more books once it reaches 200 books. I've also discovered Rate Your Music, which is a site similar to Shelfari where you can display your music, etc. (OK, I'm looking for one that does DVDs, but I've not found one yet.) This is much better than linking to your amazon wishlist because it maintains your priavcy and prevents hacking into your amazon account.

March 2008: Gallery created for Dead Winter's Night. Can be found here. Plus a new guestbook, which can be found here.

STAR WARS CHARACTER CAFE:

July 2008: Site revamp completed!

June 2008: Most of the revamp of the site is now complete. Yay! I'll be making a what's new post in the forum when I've finished.

March 2008: Revamp started on the site. For those of you who don't know yet, Jedi Girl is in the process of moving. The new forum can be found here.

DARKSIDE OF THE MOON:

June 2008: As with SWCC, I've been uploading a new layout to fix navigation problems caused by Jedi Girl moving (and some I unknowlingly created myself...)

March 2008: The first 8 chapters of The Bounty Hunter added.

December 2007: Soundtrack page added!

PAGANISM:

March 2008: Why I have chosen the Pagan Path - Part 1 has been added. I had wanted to get it up sooner, but I've been busy with my Open University Science course.

December 2007: Introduction page added!

All images whereever possible have been credited to its source. The original photo I used for the banner is called Wolf Spying, and was taken by wildlife photographer, Jim Brandenburg.  I found it on the First People Site. The previous banner was Edge of Winter, by the artist, Larry Fanning. All other images used in this site have either been created by me, (which I will indicate), or I have assumed to be clip art and can be used freely. If that's not the case, then please let me know so that I can credit it, or remove it if prefered.
