WELCOME!

Welcome to Dead Winter's Night, Emimar's site collective. Here you can find information about my interests and sites.

WEBMISTRESS:

I am 28 year old and originally comes from Derbyshire, UK. I am a student at University studying Zoology. Previous to that, I've been a conservation volunteer in the Peak District working outside in all weathers repairing dry-stone walls and similar activites. I have also been a dog groomer, small animal care assistant, and spent some time working with horses. Although I like working with domestic animals, my passion has always been wildlife, hence my current studies.

I am also a science fiction nerd, writer, and to some extent, an artist. Web design is really just an hobby of mine. I am a pagan interested in druidry and norse mythology.I have recently started playing RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons, World of Darkness and the Star Wars RPG (the latter of which I have wanted to play properly for a very long time!)

At the moment, I have two chinchillas. In the past, I've also had a dog who died in May 08 because he was old. I'd like to have another dog because once you've had them, life is kinda empty without them. At the moment, it's out of the question because of Uni.

ABOUT THE NAME:

Dead winter's night is a line from Broken, a song by Finnish metal band, Sonata Arctica. I came across them in 2006 and they are the most amazing band I've ever heard, both with their music and lyrics. In April 2008, I had the oppertunity to see them live at the Corporation in Sheffield. Anyone who's been to the Corporation will know that it's not very big, but the the band put as much effort into the concert as they would have done at a big venue. I look forward to see them again.

UPDATES:

May 2009: Uni has almost finished for the summer and that means soon I'll be back at home. Yay! I'll soon be able to start working on the sites again. There is just one problem though - my computer at home is experiencing some techincal problems which may mean that I won't get as much work done as I'd like. However, I have been thinking of making a forum for Dead Winter's Night and having boards for the sites I currently own.

March 2009: As you can see, I've uploaded a new layout! I got tired of the old one and the site needs sranome reconstructing. It will take a while to get things organised, partly because of uni work and the fact that some parts of the site will be reorganised. Hopefully, it shouldn't take too long! I've disabled some of the links for now, while I redo things. For some reason, though, I can't get the font to be normal here, which is something I find happens quite a bit with the editor. Annoying...Perhaps it's something bravenet should sort out! Happy Ostara!

September 2008: UNI MONTH! :) I'll be starting the Zoology HND later on this month. It seems like frigging ages since I applied last October. The problem is, it just can't come soon enough. There's only a couple of things I need to do now and then everything's sorted (at least, until the chaos of starting the course is here.) I got the Fresher's Week events book last weekend and there's a lot of good stuff in there to look forward to. Ugh, getting accepted on the course was the easy part (quite ironic when you consider the number of stupid calculations I got wrong for the chemistry section of the OU course...), the paperwork for financial support and organising accomodation was the tricky part...Any how, because I'm going to have to move, it means I'll be missing a computer for a while, which sadly, means no updates for my sites for a while. (Not that I'd have time to mess around with them, but at least by putting a note here you'll all know I've not abandoned the sites, or fallen off the face of the Earth.) So, goodbye 'til Yule, I expect. :(

Oh, I almost forgot. I've started an icon journal on LJ called Howling Icons.

August 2008: Another early update, I know. I've added the How to maintain privacy and prevention of your personal details being stolen online page.

All images whereever possible have been credited to its source. Currently, I am using for the banner artwork called Pathway by Goldenwolf. In the last layout for DWN, the  original photo I used for the banner is called Wolf Spying, and was taken by wildlife photographer, Jim Brandenburg.  I found it on the First People Site. The previous banner was Edge of Winter, by the artist, Larry Fanning. All other images used in this site have either been created by me, (which I will indicate), or I have assumed to be clip art and can be used freely. If that's not the case, then please let me know so that I can credit it, or remove it if prefered.
